Hmmmm....
What can you conclude when your boss sets a meeting at 5:30pm which is coincidentally your knock-off time?
The Optimist:
You think to yourself, that's not too bad, with luck your meeting might end at 6:30pm and you can still be home in time for dinner.
The Pessimist:
You think that your boss is being really insensitive and has no consideration for your personal time.
What else can you infer when he tells you that he will only start the meeting in 5 minutes time when it's already 6pm?
The Optimist:
You still remain postive and hope the meeting will be a quick one so that you can at least rush home in time for dinner.
The Pessimist:
You get prepared to wait for another good 30 minutes for your boss to complete several minor tasks that crosses his mind at the spur of the moment.
And suppose he drags until 6:30pm to start the non-urgent meeting?
The Optimist:
You call home to tell your mum that you can't come back in time for dinner and remain professional and be attentive as possible during the meeting.
The Pessimist:
You get prepared put up with the inane ramblings from your boss and how he over-reacts to small problems and starts to complain that he is having a headache.
And suppose upon being told by the showroom staff that main exit would be locking up soon, your boss starts to rush through the meeting in hope to beat the closing time so that he doesn't have to arm the security alarm system for being the last one to exit the front office.
The Optimist:
You refrain from thinking that your VP of IT is a closet techno-phobic and convince yourself the growling isn't really coming from your stomach.
The Pessimist:
You realise that your VP of IT is actually closet techno-phobic and concentrate on the growling that is coming from your stomach.
Your boss calls the meeting off and starts to pack up to leave while you still remain in office busying yourself away behind the computer. He looks slightly embarassed when he sees you before he before he heads out.
The Optimist:
Your perseverance starts to wane but you remain positive that tomorrow would be a better day.
The Pessimist:
You sigh in resignation and envy your colleague who is going away for a week's reservist the very next day because he doesn't have to put up with such annoying shit at work.
Point to note, everything was just hypothetical. *winks winks*
